Re: SIAGON

On a similar note, folks who specialize in WWII vehicles have been getting parts from England, Japan, and Germany for years. It's our fault, I guess, for leaving the stuff there. I say don't complain about where the parts come from...just be glad that they are still available!

Re: Radiator cooling fan

Thanks Lifer. Besides pulling the radiator how hard is it to R and R ? Will it break in two or something or do they just slide out and slide in ? IF its pretty easy I will do it but if it falls apart then...... another challenge .... I wouldn't even hazard a guess on how hard it is to do. Some come...

Re: Radiator cooling fan

Since you are changing the water pump anyway, now would be a perfect time to check that water distribution tube. It's right behind the water pump. If there's any evidence of rust-out (especially at the narrow end), it would be wise to replace it while you've got the water pump off. I don't know how ...

Ahhh, yes! 'Twas ever thus! There are no less than 3 gas stations between where my wife works and the homestead, but she'll drive past all of them on the way home and then tell me "Dear, the van needs gas!"

Re: Joy Ride In Lori's "M"

Hey Crew! Spring and or summer is here and the honey-do projects are piling up but we did manage to get the M-37 out yesterday and used it to run our Friday errands. Boy do you ever get the looks. Still running like a top! All for now, company just walked in the door! I'm going to assume that since...

Re: Weird one for you guys!

Take a look on the Steel Soldiers web site (www.steelsoldiers.com). They have a section on tanks/armored vehicles. I'm sure someone there can point you in the right direction. They may even have a T.O. with dimensions, etc.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, Stu. We don't consider you to be a "foreigner" on the forum any more than I considered myself a "foreigner" when stationed at RAF Uxbridge (on the west edge of London). I couldn't participate in local politics, of course, but otherwise I was just as ...

I know where you're coming from, Paul! My M37 found a good home with another owner. I'm sure yours will, too. We hate to see them go after they've become "part of the family," but sometimes that's just the way it is. Hang in there. If that's not possible, I'll try to reserve a spot for you...

Re: HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

Well, my Easter was okay. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday kinda sucked, though. :? Most of you know that I'm not a religious man. I've always compared religion with drugs...both help people to cope with life's unbearable moments when they can't deal with them on their own. For those of you who DO find...

End of the trail

Well, guys, it's been a great ride, but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep adding my comments/expertise/fool advice to the forum. I was diagnosed with lung cancer last month. After numerous tests, I finally got the "definitive" word yesterday. The type of cancer I have is not smoki...

Re: brake pedal free play

If you've adjusted the brakes to the point where it's hard to spin them around by hand, they're too tight. They are not releasing completely and you will wear your shoes out a lot faster. I always adjusted brakes until I could hear just a little "whisper" of contact and then backed them of...

Re: surplus markings? Or something else?

The "51K 7141" indicates that your truck was originally a USAF truck. If it was painted red with white lettering, it was most likely assigned to a base fire protection unit after serving elsewhere. The number would have been assigned to the truck when it first came into the AF inventory an...

I wonder where they were made. The backward "C" in Chrysler seems to indicate that they were not made in the U.S. An error like that should have been caught and corrected immediately if they were.

Re: Restoration Guide

Given the mechanical ability (particularly in diagnostics) of the average owner these days, perhaps a "Haynes" manual for the M37 would be a useful shop reference?
