Re: Alignment

One tie rod end is fine thread the other coarse, if memory holds. Took another look today. I was turning the fine thread end. The closest I could get the difference "C" between the front and rear ends is 1.5" Bar lengths each (A&B) at 7ft That shows the angle between A&B = ab...

Re: Alignment

A spring loaded curtain rod positioned at the farthest rubber on each tire will give you a cheap gauge. Use a sharpie to mark it, then roll the truck backward to see the difference. I made an alignment jig (yet another one use tool) - (2) 7ft long square tubing notched in the middle to fit between ...

Alignment

What's better on these beasts?
A bit of toe in, or toe out?

I found that since the tie rod ends are screwed onto a bent tie rod the final adjustment is not exact. The best is "close".

Patching Bed

The M37 bed previously had something bolted down (hose reel?). Over time that area has rusted through so there are now four 4"x4" patches of holes surrounding the original 1/2" bolt hole. The rest of the bed is in VG condition. Where would I find some bed material to cut out patches f...

No, no they don't. The part was covered under a 60 day warranty. When they gave me the replacement switch you could tell the plastic was a lot thicker and the whole unit was a little heftier.

Took a 45 mile trip the other day, zero leaks!

Re: How to get spark plugs wires black again

Another thought....

When I first got my M37 the original generator cable had its rubber covering flaking off. I removed all of what was remaining and checked the condition of the inner wires (all still soft and pliable).

Polished the now exposed shielding up a bit and will use that for shows.

Re: New to me '52 M37

Took me a while to track down the oil leak. It was spraying the frame and traveling along the inside then dripping. Took some cardboard, put it under the area suspected and along the frame. I had suspected it was the threads near the block. Nope, it was the "new" oil pressure switch. Leaki...

Re: New to me '52 M37

Drivability has greatly increased.
Getting aligned is a bigger task than I thought. It was way toe out! Other than that the back/front tracks spot on.

Thanks. Mine moves a bit over 2" side to side. Thought that was excessive.

Gearshift Play: 4th

Was just wondering...

When in 4th, how much 'side-to-side' movement is in the stick (measured at the top of the gearshift)?
1-2", 3-4", none

Yeah, great technical question.
