Re: Neck Leaking

From FB I got all kind of suggestions from using Type 3 Aviation as well as others. The base area where the neck sits on the head was not too smooth. One suggested I take it to a machine shop to have it milled smooth. Sorry but I am not taking the head off now. I decided to use JB weld metal filler ...

Re: Lines and the 24v waterproof distributor

Since I was no longer using the stock engine-driven fuel pump and I had electric wipers installed (so didn't need the vacuum for that), we used the vacuum pump side of the fuel pump to ventilate the distributor. John MC, That's a good idea. What did you do with the open end of the fitting on the di...

Re: SC M37

I got the headers and the reverse Webber 45 knockoff carburetor from Langdon's Stovebolt 6 website. It looks like he is not selling them anymore.

Re: SC M37

It’s been a while since I have posted an update but have been doing work on the old M37. I got the engine back together. Put it and the transmission back in the truck. https://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/3568/M37_Engine.jpg Then put the winch and the bumpers back on: https://www.surfacezero.com/g5...

Re: Budd Wheels Newbie Questions

Here is what I did. viewtopic.php?t=6936

I didn't say in the post but once the lock ring and chain was on, I inflated it with the ring facing down.

Re: Battery Box setup

I was looking for photos I might have. Seems I didn't take any of the bottom of the box. The box has holes it in to allow it to be bolted to the body. Other than that there are holes to bolt the battery tray to the box. Can't remember the holes might be for both. Tray: https://www.worthpoint....

Re: Wire Routing / Mounting Hardware / Clips / etc. ???

I was in the same situation. Looking through the manuals you can eventually piece together how the wiring routes and what holds it down or to the frame. The pictures of thinks like the axle chapter shows part of the frame. Other chapters have photos of other things but in the background show the wir...

Re: M37 Horn Button

I took pictures of how things should be on the horn wire. When I talked to John, he gave me the rundown on what order things go. In the picture where the lock washer is on the metal tip of the wire, I could not find the one that John sent. I know I got it because I saw it in the kit. But the way my ...

Re: M37 Horn Button

John at Midwest said to give him a call. He was very helpful. I understand what's going on now and will take photos. When the parts come out of the box everything is already on the wire that is needed. Only the split black plastic piece and the spring retainer push on washer is not on the wire. So t...

M37 Horn Button

What am I doing wrong with my horn button? The old horn pieces were broken. I got a new kit for the horn button. I put the steering wheel over the steering shaft, then the metal horn finger thing, then the nut and tightened it all up. When I put the wire in place I have the split plastic holder down...

Re: M37 with Chevy 350 questions

Hi, 'Is this a bad sign of an incomplete conversion.' It's hard to tell based on your description. Do you have any photos? Most conversions are custom type work and each one might have to be worked on differently. Are the truck beds easy to find? Most are not in very good shape unless they are on a ...

Re: Valve Seat Angles

That's interesting. I went with the 60, 45, 30deg. I wonder why they chose 20 deg. I don't see that gaining more performance. As long as the seat width is good the valves will not tell the difference. Doing the 60 degree grind was interesting as down in the throat of the intake and exhaust the openi...

Re: SC M37

Yeah that Tach is for a 6cly boat engine. It barely fits there. It's not connected yet but I plan on maybe drilling a small wire sized hole in the test cap of the distributor cap, feeding it through and connecting it to one of the terminals.
