I've re-read your first post, and I retract my observation that your engine timing (vice ignition timing) is correctly set up. Let me see if I have the chronology correct: 1. You have it set up, and it runs. 2. It didn't start the second time, so you pulled the pump and set it 180° out. 3. Doesn't r...

Hmmmm....curiouser and curiouser. Well, back to basics. It needs fuel, air, and sparks. I don't mean to belittle you at all here, I find that I can get wrapped around the axle on something simple. Such as the time I was convinced I was having an ignition problem. I was on my way to work, when the en...

Been there...several times. I currently have the engine to my M38A1 strewn about the garage for a simple rear main oil seal change. A case of "while I'm in here" that got a bit out of hand. A very similar problem was kicking my butt until Charles bailed me out. Are you aware that are two a...

Brilliant! Perhaps a couple of strips of thin plastic or teflon board running the length of the bottom to prevent wear, and to ease sliding in and out.

I'll have to see if the metal shop boys at work have anything better to do...

Here is the list posted on Cabell Garbee's site:

http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/PartsCross.PDF

I don't know who the original compiler is or I'd credit him as well.

Some of the numbers are out of date, but a decent parts house will be able to get you what you need.

Good luck...

Looks like Seattle is going to get an economic boost. Last one leaving the LA terminals can shut the lights off.

You could cut your own out of an appropriate thickness of buna-n (nitrile) rubber sheet stock. Nitrile is very resistant to petroleum i.e. won't swell or break down. McMaster-Carr carries sheet stock for a pretty decent price online. Lightly coat the PTO blanking plate mating surface with grease, la...

Me too, Charles. I guess I sound a little bitter, but it's really not the case. Three months ago I was the guy driving the SUV at 75.

Thankfully I'm retiring soon, so no more commuting. I'll be able to afford to stay in the hobby with running the trucks just a couple of times a week.

I would have to say that I'm a bit skeptical. Refineries take time to build, and we'll be paying for them at the pump for quite a while. As far as new drilling, I don't think the ANWR debate is dead yet. The Arctic is an expensive environment to operate in. Again, we'll be paying at the pumps. As I ...

Mine gets pretty warm. It's warm enough to dry any water sitting on it in wet weather.

Refit, You mentioned bakelite connectors. I assume that you are talking about the Douglas butt connectors. If I can offer a comment here: I just re-wired my M38A1. I had a mix of bakelite and plastic. The bakelite connectors were very brittle. They chipped easily, and pretty near fell apart in my ha...
