Re: Keyed Electrical Disconnect
A disconnect is crucial in my opinion. I went with Charle's recomendation a few years back. Can't remember the NAPA number but it's a keyed disconnect that is mounted to the front of the passenger's seat. Unhooks the battery negative and was a breeze to install. Another one of those "while your...

Re: Radiator Leak
I pulled mine out to have it flushed and pressure tested in the spring. Very reputable local guy who has done other people's in the club. Flushed it, pressure tested and a new cap, all for a whopping $27! Certainly couldn't go wrong there, as a side, I figured I'd check the distribution tube while t...

Re: "...just go to the dealer, Man...."
Gary, that reminds me of when I used to go to the old NAPA store, before it was NAPA. The old timers who used to be able to look up parts in the books, that seemed to have an infinite knowledge, and wanted to figure out a solution for you. Now all we can find is snot-nosed punks who can't find their...

stupid people!
Sorry guys, but I gotta vent! I was exhibiting my truck and WWII generators that I have rebuilt at a local "steam" show this past month when a guy comes up to me and really ticked me off. I know the guy and he has hit-n-miss engines, a nice guy, BUT he says to me "you're the guy with ...

Re: Carb rebuild xtra part
Don't you love it when you find these "bonus" parts! It doesn't look familiar, and I just rebuilt mine 2 months ago. On a side note, when I tore mine apart there was a small copper rivet in the accelerator pump housing. I have no idea how it got in there, or why it never affected the funct...

Korean War Uniforms
O.K. I know it's not really vehicle related, but can anyone suggest a good book on U.S. Korean war uniforms and equipment. I've got probably 20 books on WWII, but can't find a darn one on the Korean War! Anyone have any ideas? Hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day.

Water pump question
Long story short, I'm having my radiator flushed out and figured while it's out I'd check the status of the distribution tube. Shockingly, the tube is like brand new. However, I noticed that there was a lot of chunks of lead in the back, probably from a repair to the radiator(looks like a bullet hol...

Re: governor question
Thanks Charles, I was hoping you'd respond, at least now I don't have to try and find a governor.

governor question
I started rebuilding my carb this past week, and have a question. When I took the governor apart, I noticed that the shaft into the sealed chamber just flops up and down. for some reason I had assumed it was a dashpot, but there doesn't seem to be any resistance to it's movement at all. Is this corr...

Kinda curious, in Supply Line they listed the show as the 20th,21st and the 23rd. Isn't there going to be a show on friday. I was going to drive down for Saturday, I'm just wondering if most of the vendors will leave before then. I always look forward to this show, a great place to get parts, and pu...

Gasket sealer question
I have a question for all you good engine rebuilders out there(especially Charles). Although it's not an M-series, I'm in the process of rebuilding the Wisconsin engine on my air compressor, and although I've done a few engines before I've been thinking alot about this one. What's the best recommend...
