generator regulator

hello guys
I have a question regarding the internat resistor called R3 inside de regulator.
mine is a 25A regulator and found a melt resistor that also seems to be incorrectly connected.
I will upload some pictures but the connection is different from what I have in my TM. Also it turned to be that it wasn't blown and the resistance is 97ohms not 174. will have to check in another TM. this is for a Canadian version but this should be universal I think.

I correct myself,
So R3 is missing, R1 is 400 ohms instead of 174
What I have overheated is R4 that goes to ground

Can you tell me the correct TM that I should see?

Where are you located? Do you have any of the Canadian manuals?
I have a spare regulator off a Canadian truck I can open up for you if you need a picture... but I would make the guess that there should be no difference between US and Canadian ones.

I am located in the south of the world in Argentina!
I have the Canadian TM but some how in this regulator there are some diferencies inside.
Maybe this regulator was not originally from this 1962 M37 but it is what I have...
It seems to be in good conditions so I will repair if I can.
If you have time (and only if you have time!!) and have another vbc-4003ut please take a picture from above to see the connections, but as I said before it seems to be in good conditions to try to restore it back.

What I suspect:
- polarization was gone
- water/ humidity entered and needs to be cleaned
- main ground was poor due to rust between housing and chassis

Actions:
- replace overheated R4 (see picture there is a smoked flame in the board) with the same 100 ohms specs (will ask supplier for the power rating)
- clean contacts and rust to warrant good conductivity
- take pictures and test

At the same time I will disassemble the generator to inspect too. Will also try to polarize it if I can.

Alright, so this may or may not help you. The regulator I opened up has the resistor in question going to a different point. I couldn't see a tag stating what version of regulator this is, but it is from a 52 m37Cdn.

I have a PDF that goes into detail regarding the operation and specs of these regulators, however it does not list the vbc-4003ut. So once again, this may not be helpful.

it only has 2 resistors and it is prepared to hold the R3 better than mine.
hey thank you so much for taking your time!! the TM is very good also.
will try to just restore it as it was.
just to clarify this M37 is not Canadian. I just have a Canadian TM hehe.
But the Canadian TM seems to be pretty close.
I am suspecting that this regulator belongs to another vehicle. I have found it in tanks... but still no TMs.
I feel that by restoring it back like reverse engineering it will work.

I saw reference to the 4003 regulator being used in the m151 so maybe that’s something to look at.

R2=15 14-17.1
R3=175 166.25-183.75

thank you guys! that is the same what I have in the Canadian TM. No Diagonal R4 installed to ground.

Ok, camming back here with the regulator, I restored back the overheated 100 ohms resistor with a 25W 100 ohms one.
Cleaned relays contacts and every single connector, replaced a cracked wire going to the diode filter, and cleaned every ground point.
I will be fixing then the generator to test if this works fine or not. I could not see any sign of malfunction other than this overheated resistor, also I saw signs or overheating in the regulator case making bad contact between it and its brakets. If there is no ground to the regulator case it will not work.

hello guys !
I have disassembled the generator and to my surprise both brushes wore open like shortcircuied. One wire was cut and the other one was fallen inside the generator. I had to join its wires.
now everything is mounted back. it's a mystery why it was damaged like that.
I have restored the fuel sender, it works from 15 ohms to 90 ohms I added an extra ground wire from the pivotating contact.
