Turn sig help. new install

Post by Gerry »

I put in a complete new wiring harness but my turn signals(solid state) do not work. The light on the lever goes on but no flashing or lights on the tail lights.Any ideas? All the rest of the lights work on the truck.
Thanks
Gerry

Did you check that the flasher unit was grounded properly? Check the supply wire (24v) and make sure the power is getting to that section of harness.

Since you have no lights, check that the tail lights are grounded. The turn signal lever also needs grounded by the steering column, you may need to remove some paint.

You have a ground issue on one of your lights, check the right ones. See to make sure you did not pinch something somewhere in your wiring.

I can help you straighten this out, several areas of concern, but likely nothing of a serious nature going on. It is not a ground issue at your light fixtures if you have other lights working. The switch being grounded at the column jacket is only so the pilot light on the switch lever works, that doesn't matter to the system in general. If you are using the military spec flasher, it must be grounded, if you are using a conventional, non mil spec flasher, most require no ground, with the exception of a couple of specialty types.

Shoot me an email or call me (704-474-4683) so I can verify a few things, happy to help you.

Charles,
I am using a vintage wiring harness. Hopefully have time in the next couple days to give you a call during the day.
Thanks
