I finally got out to the garage yesterday with my son-in-law and we spent about 3 hours getting the power steering and drag link installed. Steering, bracket and draglink are from mid-70’s Dodge W200 (aka M880’s). I have never been a big fan of the zigzag draglink of the original truck so I opted for a tad bit more modern design even if it is over 35 years old. I am more comfortable with it. Had to drill some new holes and had to cut a 1 inch hole in the frame to clear the back side of the steering gear box and had to weld a small gusset to the frame for the bottom bolt, but all in all a good install.
35 degree day had two effects on me. First I moved a little slower and two my legs today are killing me. Next step is to figure out the steering column. I see a trip to Summit in my near future....
So, please fill me in more on the design, I have been unable to fit my steering box to my RHD setup as the zig-zag link sytem is not giving me the clearance I need for the inverted box....
The front axle, steering gear, draglink and the bracket are all from a mid 70's Dodge W200. I'm not sure how you would make it work on a stock axle with its ball and socket setup. This is standard set up with the tappered ball joint type connections on the draglink.
Good to see you got some time to wrench sir. I hope all goes well with the steering mod. One day I will get up there to see that truck.I hope I can find the time to get back on my M101A1 this spring, most free time this summer will be used fixing up mom's house and getting it ready to sell. I still have the brake repairs to do on the M37. It doesn't get easier with the cold, I had to work on the daily driver this past Saturday with only a LP tank radiant heater for warmth. I ached pretty good the next day. Enjoy your garage time even if it is at a snails pace

Yeah David it was cold out there. I may be able to get back out there this weekend. We'll see. I need to spend some money so I have to see what the boss says...
