No, think about it. If your going to submerge that truck you need to seal off the fuel vent line or your going to get water in the fuel. A fuel vent line shutoff makes sense in this case.

That fuel vent line routes right into the fuel filler neck for venting, the only way it gets water is if water gets past the fuel cap.

And with the fording kit, the water will be over the cap, by quite a bit.

I believe the illustrated valve is the tank drain valve. The early trucks had them, they are located at the lower rear edge. They require a wrench to open and they dont drain fast. There is also a drain plug in the bottom.

Hi Tim,

I think I've gone about as far as I can go in terms of researching this one......and I think you're right......it's the tank cock just mislabeled in the TM. Thanks for all your inputs and if I find out anything contrary to this......or find an M with a cock on the vent I'll let you know.
