May I ask what the damage was for a complete new harness? I've got a rats nest for wires, but its running...

The harness is just plain brittle and has more repairs than I want to deal with. I prefer to not awake to find my garage engulfed in flames from a random short.

VWoM was my top choice; the harness I got from them for my GPW was right on. Do they include all the cannon plugs and Douglas connectors with theirs?

The harness from VWoM was spot on. It had all the connectors (less the plastic inner pieces--you save those from your old harness), along with a new turn signal set up! Plus a great wiring diagram, printed on larger paper for those like me that have "older" eyes. The price is reasonable considering the work that goes into making the harness and what you get. I couldn't be happier with the product.

I believe any vehicle that is 60 years old should have a battery disconnect switch. I turn my batteries off unless I'm actually in or working on the truck. It is very cheap to install and might just protect your garage from conflagration.

Even though I have all new VWofM Harnesses, I still remove the series jumper from the 2 battery's when the truck's not in use.

Already burned up one M37 from an electrical short and not wanting to go thru that again I installed this set up, the relay disconnects the batteries common ground disabling the entire electrical system eliminating short circuit fires and dead batteries.

Some have used the M37 Greek take-out harnesses that Sid Beck was selling a few years back - they come up for sale on occasion if you are looking for function over originality.

Chris,

If you are looking to customize the harness for an electric fuel pump or electric wipers I don't think VPW harnesses would be a option unless you did the customization yourself.

I bought the VW of M harness and had him add exactly what I wanted.

Chris. Before you Go Straight Stock with a new harness. Better check with your DMV to see if you need directional's to pass inspection. Where I live any vehicle 1952 and newer has to have them. So when I had my harness made I had to have it made with them.

Does anyone have the instructions that come with the Sid Beck Greek wiring harnesses? I have a set and no instructions. Is it possible to post or email me a copy.

Thanks!

I'm new to the board.

Best Regards,

John
