Bed draining

Post by Wayne64 »

Was there, or is there a way to have the bed drain off rain water without it going into the storage box. Even parked in the driveway, which does pitch towards the street, the water still collects towards the front.

Aside from drilling holes in the front of the bed.....none that I know of.

Wayne,
How about boring a few scupper holes right at floor level, into the header panel. Then the water would drain between the bed and the cab.
Or install a sump pump!

You could buy a pair of M416 floor drains and install them at the front corners and connect hoses to route the water through the tool box. But I think I'd prefer the two holes at the bottom edge of the bed header panel. You can add a bulkhead 90 deg. nipple and hose to each hole to let the water exit below the tool box.

I had my bed apart and it should drain between the head board and the floor and go off the lip of head board. When I reassembled with all new sealant I get no water into storage box.

The easiest way would be to park on an uphill grade steep enough to rerout the water to the tailgate. If you don't have one, a dirt pile will do the trick and is super easy to make. Of course, you could also use a Prius under each front wheel. ;)

I Like the Prius Option

Post by SierraM37 »

Lifer - I personally like the Prius option!!! The Donor truck I picked up had two holes drilled in the corners with copper drain tubes skipped in. I don't remember if they drained into the tool box or not - I'll go look later and try to post a picture of the copper fittings.
