Front Propeller Shaft Removal
Hi folks, My front shaft has a significant wobble to it. So much so that it's really concerning in 3rd... I am going to pull it and take it to a Drive-Line Specialist here in Toronto. The Restore Manual makes it look simple. My question is, is there Oil inside of the Propeller Shaft Tube ? I am wond...

CCKW round window M37 top
Hi folks,
from what I can tell this Top was borrowed from the CCKW ?
Does anyone know what the insulation is made of ?
Does it require any special handling processes ? ( ie: Asbestos ? )
I personally love this top, it gives the truck a much older look to it.

Re: Transmission boot
I just replaced mine after a Transmission Rebuild. I have a NP 88950 so I purchased the miniature "Top Hat" from Vintage Power Wagons. It fits nicely since it's actually pliable. My Floor gasket crumbled around the Tower Base. I bought one of those too from Vintage, although I suspect that...

Drivers Side Rear View Mirror Rubber Seal
Hi folks, I was able to pull the Mirror Assembly apart easily. ( Surprising given the amount of rust ! ) Has anyone found an after-market Rubber Weather Stripping product that we can use to replace the original ? I am hunting, but the original has a very interesting channel carved in it that is need...

Re: T98 Tranmsission Shift Tower
Thanks Jess ! I'll do that. Just ordered a T98 Kit from TX Exchange. I did find out late Saturday that the input bearing retainer on the T98 is the identical size as the NP88950. Was able to use a spare I had to seal it up. I also Welded a bolt to the Shift Tower, which immediately fixed the Shift-S...

Re: T98 Tranmsission Shift Tower
Thanks guys ! That pic on Craigs list is it ! Right down to the rebuild plate. The internals are in great condition, really quite amazing. The issue is with the Tower, which I now believe is broken badly at the top. I'm guessing there was a round pin that fits through a hole at the top, which would ...

T98 Tranmsission Shift Tower
Hi Folks, much to my surprise, I think I pulled a T98 Transmission out of my USAF M37 built in Detroit ! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0c91zNa0RbqZk5Qb0ZuTHZyRnp1TVI3NTlHWWZFU0RZTTVv/view?usp=sharing The Shift Tower is broken where a Key-Way should be. The main shaft looks great though and it ev...

Re: M37 Started Burning Oil Only Once Warm
Hi ya Bob,
now that's interesting !
I'll have a quick look at the vaccum lines for traces of oil.
Hmmmm, what if the connection between fuel pump and Wiper Motors was leaking ?
would that also do it ?
Thanks

Re: How to Remove Years of Mud?
I know it sounds odd, but I used Simonize Rubbing Compound on mine, because I wanted to save the paint. It worked fine, just took a long time. I also have an 52 AF version with original blue where the previous guys didn't paint over. :) A buddy suggested Wet Sanding the Doors to try to find any mark...

M37 Started Burning Oil Only Once Warm
Hi folks, While I haven't started the task of pulling things apart to see what's going on. Is this a common issue seen on the T245 ? I run her every two weeks or so for 20 to 30 minutes, sometimes taking her out for a spin. She starts up very easily and idles smoothly. Lately, She'll run clean for 1...

Re: 88950 Transmission Rebuild Question
Hi folks, The new Synchro Rings made a huge difference. The end play is now in the .04 range which is what is should be. The difference is amazing, as the entire Synch assembly is nice and tight now. Problem solved, thank goodness I didn't start grinding the Pilot bearing. Now to follow Charles' gui...

Re: 88950 Transmission Rebuild Question
Thanks again Charles ! That makes total sense. I started to research the Tool and see how it would work well in this case. I received my package of goodies from Midwest. Woo Hooo. I did notice that the new Clutch Rings fit very differently into the Outer Synchro Rings. The old ones sit flat in the &...

Re: 88950 Transmission Rebuild Question
Hi Charles, Re-braded, now that's an interesting term that I haven't come across before. Is that like tapping in a thread, although, that would only serve to widen the hole. Do you put some sort of material on the pin's leg, then insert it ?? I'd love to recondition the existing rings and use them i...

Re: 88950 Transmission Rebuild Question
Thanks Charles ! I thought at length about what might have led to the "wearing" of parts that would result in a space here. I guessed it might be from the Synch Rings themselves. ( Assuming that the pins wear over time and shorten the end to end distance of the entire unit. Since one set o...
