Re: 383 Mopar powered M37
Very Nice work! Two questions - where did you source the aluminum rad from? And, have you checked for clearance issues between the pitman arm and the tires you're planning to run on the Hummer wheels? The backspace on the wheels eats up room in a hurry, especially when making right hand turns... I m...

Re: Laughter is the Best Medicine.....
A little story to start your Christmas season in the right spirit. When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Christmas pressure. Then, Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa...

Re: engine
The only reason I suggest a small block of any flavor, is that its cheap and easy to do. I had a fresh 305 (gasp!) in mine and with the stock gearing and tires made an enormous improvement on how it drove over having the flat head under the hood. I could hills on the hwy in 4th gear, at the speed li...

Re: engine
I put a big block Chevy and an SM465 transmission in mine back about 1970, retaining the stock 5.83 gearing, with KS-22 No-Spin differential. I like that combination. Adequate power and speed. I think Ray is running a 428 Ford in his. I am running a 428cj in mine. I look at it this way; I don't see...

Re: How much $$$ you got in YOUR truck?!!
Mine wasn't cheap to build the way I wanted it. The front D60 has at least $2500 in it alone, and its really nothing special other than new Spicer shafts, Chromo stubs, 4.56 gears and a Detroit locker. The sad part is that I got great deals on everything I purchased. There's probably $600 bucks in t...

Re: engine
RMS brings up excellent points. Anything that will rev higher than 3200rpm will improve the driving aspect with the stock gearing. GM V8s fit well and are a relatively easy swap with a 2wd transmission. The 230 is a relatively small (dimension wise) inline 6, so fitting a bigger 292 might create iss...

Re: Getting cold...
Sounds about right Jess. As a kid I have pictures somewhere of the loader piled snow in our Cul-de-sac. As a 5 year old, it was my Mount Everest. The view of the neighborhood was great as I perched my butt on the top of the street light globe...much to the chagrin of my screeching mother who was con...

Even more importantly, get those roofs shoveled. If it rains or warms up significantly all that wet snow will start to pancake houses and buildings with little to now warning. A buckled roof sucks, but a flat family is far worse...

I'm hoping all our members and friends from the Buffalo area had their plows mounted and chains on... It must be an unreal sight to get a years worth of snow in 3 days. As a Canuck I'm used to snow, but that amount would give even the best of us a run for our money. Good luck on the dig out now, and...

Re: idles fine - no power under load
I'm going to suggest a fuel issue. A working engine requires more fuel over one that's hardly working or just coasting along. My thought would be a weak fuel pump, or a plugged filter restricting the flow. As I'm no 230 expert, I'll leave the direct diagnosis to someone who knows better. I would at ...

I'm impressed that you managed the M35 in that garage.
I've wondered about a 4 door M37, and I'm subscribed to your build. Keep the pictures coming!

Re: 1951 M37 4bt Modern Repower
Just reading through you blog and being you are thinking of Cummins caught my eye. I have a custom M37 running a 93 6BT and I was reading a concern about power and mileage. I understand that the 4BT is under powered for my liking so I went 6BT. The 6BT went realitively well and would cruise at 65-7...
