I recall a few years ago there was an article in MV magazine about adding a bypass coolant filter to a multifuel Deuce, I think the theory and plumbing would be similar in this case. A search thru the MV index should bring up what you need.... and of course it's best to start with a clean system, as...

Heat, wax, then more heat, more wax(or kroil if you prefer) and you should be able to get the other nut off. Then remove the housing and you can get your vise grips on the broken stud. Just work it back and forth easy and use heat as needed. Again, patience is the key....

Heat is your friend!

You can try heating the stud/bolt to a dull red then hold a candle to it. Let the candle wax run down into the threads, then let it cool down a bit. May have to do it a few times. Use vise grips on the exposed threads if any, otherwise drill the bolt and use the easy-out. Work it back and forth gent...

Sailor, I had a look in my parts stash and sorry to say, no luck on the running board. I noticed Midwest mil has them on the website for 50 bucks. That may be an option if yours is too fubared to straighten....JK
