Re: Reverse gear
tonandhalfsteve, If you look at where the shifter enters the top cover of the trans you'll see there's a pin that acts to index it. When the assembly is new that pin is a tight fit and the shifter does not rotate about it's axis much, if at all. Over time the pin/cover wear and things start to float...

Rdinatal,
Check with Midwest Military. I think they're making bits for floors.

Re: My 1962 Project 😵💫
tarawa,
What's your goal with this engine?
I'm concerned that when you get it unstuck and run it you will not be happy with the result and may do more harm than good. The bottom end may not be in very good condition and running it may do further damage and drive up the cost of a long term fix.

Re: Coolant in exhaust
Mike, Assuming that you put sealant on the studs that you removed from the block it's certainly possible your dealing with coolant in the exhaust system. It takes a long time to get it out of a partially filled muffler!!! If all you did was gaskets it seems unlikely that you have induced a new probl...

Re: Spark Plug gap with electronic ignition?
John Mc, If you’re running the military wires I’d suggest leaving the gap stock. On multiple occasions I’ve had ignition failures due to a bad plug. I had a plug that took excessive voltage to fire. This lead to one fried lead and one fried cap. I also gave up on Pertronix after a unit died on me an...

Re: Losing fuel prime
I'd make sure that snazzy bolt that was added to the carb's elbow doesn't leak. It's on the low pressure side of the choke and will reduce it's efficiency. If all else fails you can try choking the carb with your hand over the intake elbow as a test. If that doesn't add a heap of fuel you've got som...

Re: 4psi. Radiator Cap that will work w/ Recovery Style System
I think I found a cap that will do the trick. Gates 31348 Heavy-Duty Radiator Cap Once I learned that the filler neck/cap is referred to as a "size B" I did some digging and found a 7psi cap for a closed cooling system. My current cap is 4psi and designed for an open cooling system. I shou...

Re: Losing fuel prime
BugsandJeeps, I'd suggest first ensuring you have no vacuum leaks and then checking out the choke mechanism. If things are working it's capable of flooding the engine VERY easily when closed fully. The different carbs I've used on the M37 have all had their own "personality" as far as how ...

Rdinatal,
I seem to recall that it seals at the top of the air cleaner mounting sleeve. I don't think one is required at the bottom.

Re: ETW1 carburetor
Rafael, There’s a bunch of posts on adjusting the governor. Charles Talbert gave really great instructions and that’s how I learned to do it. My truck is governed to 3000, but you can set it where you like. You tune 2 variables, spring preload and spring constant with 2 concentric screws. One will s...

Rafael,
Not without some pretty serious surgery and fabrication !!
If adjusted properly it works really well. I'd suggest you try that first. It takes a little patience, but it is worth it.

If it's loosing spark I'd install a new condenser and try again! They don't age well.
