Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design
Thanks. So, what I'm basically asking is, is the pintle on my truck a fluke? Or, could it have originally been born with the swivel pintle, and somewhere down the road it was taken off and replaced by the earlier non-swivel version?

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design
So after all the input in this thread (which by the way is awesome), does it mean that my Pintle is NOT original for my 1954 M37, because it not of the swivel type?

Re: Not bragging, just sharing....
The first time I did it a few years ago, it took something like 15 cans. This last time, I did it with 12 cans.

Handy-man / Hi-Lift Jack
Anyone in here carry one in your truck? Was wondering if it will fit in the "toolbox compartment"?

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design
Milsurp, Yes, that sounds like it would be the early style pintle hook without the adapter being bolted straight to the crossmember. Sal, That is the one-piece/late style pintle that is on my truck also. As an update, I sent emails out to all the '54 owners in the registry. Every response except on...

The things I've done to my 1954 M37 since buying it in 2005. The day I bought it and towed it home. http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/anythingold/m371_zpsa863e498.png http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/anythingold/m37_zps5f63d0d8.png http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/anythingold/...

Well it's good to have you back, Milsurp, lots of new forum members, and sadly, we've lost some too, to the big motor pool in the sky. Gary Thank you. And, I'm sorry to hear that some members have gone off to the M37 motor pool. Hopefully, the guy who sold me the electronic ignition for my M37 hasn...

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design
Milsurp, Yes, by swivel I meant rotating. The pintle should rotate 360 degrees, clockwise or counter. The ones that are bolted to the frame are the early style pintle hook without the adapter (rotating shaft that passes through the frame) bolted straight to the frame crossmember. The adapter may ha...
