Tubes, and Flaps

Post by RedUtilityTruck »

Locally there is no one who has access to the 9.00-16 size anymore. I have some tires, but unsure where to get flaps especially.

Where to you get your tubes and flaps now?

Thanks,
J

Justubes.com - I had good service and was pleased with the product…though I have limited experience with tubes and flaps

when I had to replace two NDT's not long ago, the truck tire shop near me, who de-mounts and then remounts them, said it was OK to reuse flaps if not too rotted, but tubes cannot be safely reused. I have done my own remote the split rings, but for $100 I am glad to have them do it. When I got my tubes and new flaps, the several sources told me they were the last they had in stock. Maybe one of those items a truck owner needs to lay in stock for the someday need of a getting harder to find necessary part for our trucks.

By the way, went to the home of the flat bed driver to see if the ten screws holding the fuel tank pick up in place are going to be impossible for me to remove, sprayed some penetrating oil on them, my intention is to come back and pull and replace my in-tank filter in a few days, but couldn't resist at least trying the screws and it looks like all will come out without a problem. Getting the plate out will be anther story, perhaps. I need to get my truck back running well, as in a week we are completing our move a 100 miles away to Columbia, SC. Resurrecting an old thread here.

Do you know if the stems on these tires are the correct length for the stock M37 rims?

One of the tubes in my Michelin 11.00 R16 XZL tires developed a slow leak. I've tried spraying it with soapy water and found nothing. Switched to submerging it in the bathtub looking for leaks. (I heard a little "fizzing" at one point, but got interrupted while looking for it, and have not been able to find it again.)

I've called a few auto repair shops and tire places in my area: none of them repair tubes anymore, they just replace them. If I have to order something, I want to make sure I get the right fit & stem.

Also, is anyone still selling flaps to fit these rims, and are they the same flaps used for 9.00-16 tires? I think mine is still OK, but need to take a closer look. Wondering if they are still available.

I can't answer your valve stem question, but VPW has tires, tubes and flaps available as I recall.

They don't list any for 11.00x16, but I guess I could use one made for a 9.00x16.

I did find the leak in my tube finally. Hopefully, it was just one. I still have to air it up and check again.

I think you'd be ok with the 900x16 tube; in my Army days 900x20s were approved for use with 1100x20 tires.

Midwest Military stocks tubes and flaps for the 9:00 x 16 tires.
