Rear wheel bearing lube
My question is, are the rear wheel bearing oil bath lubed or should they be packed with grease. I have the 1963 B1 model

Re: Rear wheel bearing lube
Packed with wheel bearing grease. I have seen a number of really oily hubs and brake shoes though. So, I would think that was from axle seals going bad.

Exactly as Sturm described. That's why it's important to keep a watchful eye on your backing plates. If you see seepage of any kind you should investigate before it becomes a real mess.

Re: Rear wheel bearing lube
there is a drain hole on back the backing plate that is supposed to direct any leaking gear oil away from the brake shoes. they get plugged with dirt and need cleaned out usually on these old trucks. on hte bearings i use stalube HD drum brake grease
