Re: Transfer case cooler
I notice that the fan is 12V. Are you all 12V or will you need a convertor? I ask because these oil coolers are also available in 24V. I think that the M-Series version of this upgrade uses the 24V pump and cooler. WIll be great to see pictures of progress and the final installation.
Re: Transfer case cooler
I have converted to 12V- with a Hemi, that's why I need the cooler!Jess wrote:I notice that the fan is 12V. Are you all 12V or will you need a convertor? Re: Transfer case cooler
Nice work!
I'm curious, and forgive me if you mentioned this already, but what is the "trigger wheel" looking disc attached to the parking brake output flange?

It is the tone ring for the transmission and computer. (5.7 Hemi & NAG-1 5 speed auto)Marmalute wrote:Nice work!

Re: Transfer case cooler
That is a very "clean" installation. Nicely done.

Re: Transfer case cooler
Nice, but what's the coating on the Cooler?
Re: Transfer case cooler
I did not think about the coating, it is out and down there, good question Will.

Re: Transfer case cooler
Yes, the blue coating will reduce the cooling capacity. Flat black is the best color for heat transfer.

Re: Transfer case cooler
Hey all, actually the color something is has nothing to do with heat transfer ( conduction). Sure, if the source of heat is sunlight it will make a difference, but that should have no effect on this cooler as it is not in direct sunlight!
Cheers!
Cheers!
Re: Transfer case cooler
The cooler came this color- a chemically resistant powder coat. It is tucked inside the frame area (in the shade). The fan will provide the airflow for cooling- thought about painting it OD but decided not to because of heat transfer issues with even more paint. The transfer case will be cooler with this setup. The fan and pump are thermostatically controlled.

Re: Transfer case cooler
Color definitely has input on heat transfer, especially radiant. How important it is for a cooler is another matter which is probably designed mostly for other forms of heat transfer.
