M37 Camshaft Options

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

We touched on better cams for the M37 engine in the Rebuild thread and I wanted to get some more info from you without hijacking that thread. I've got a P30 engine in one of my M37s, which was the 230 made by Plymouth in 1957. The specs for that engine, that I could find, say 132hp at 3600 rpm, 205 lb-ft at 1600 rpm and an 8:1 compression ratio. Now that would be thru the intake and exhaust for that engine, which were different than what the M37 uses, so I would expect less. But how do you think that cam would compare to the Hi-Po cams you guys are describing? Did the folks you got your cam from give you any indication of what amount of power increase you should expect? I guess what I'm driving at is.........are the cams you guys are talking about significantly better than the stock P30 cam? I'll keep digging and see if I can find some cam specs for it.

thanks,
bob

specs would be good. I bet the HP and torque you show is for the 2 barrel carb set up. that was an option in the cars in those days. did you get the specs from your actual engine number? Ply mouth may have had a lower output option as well.
