Anything we should check? Pan's off.

Post by ashyers »

We pulled the pan today. From what I understand of the 230 oiling/filtering system it works like a settling pot, so I thought we should take a look. The good news is there was very little gunk and the internals of the engine are very clean. This is not what I expected due to past experience with this beast. From the limited view of the pistons and bores, things look good.

Is there anything the kids and I need to check while we have the pan off? I know enough about these things to be dangerous...

Any tricks to getting a leak free seal?

Thanks,

Andy

Well, if you can figure out how to get a leak free rear main seal, I'd sure like to get in on the secret. :D

What do you need to know about this; getting a leak free rear main is usually no issue at all. There is a few things that can cause it other than the seal itself, so I'd suggest checking out all the possibilities prior to replacing the seal. Shoot me an email.
