Gemmer steering box

Post by jim0311 »

Rebuilt my steering box after a lot of research on how to. It wasn't such a big job as I thought, it came apart fairly easily. The new bushings went in rather nicely after sitting in the freezer for an hour, I had to make a new oil seal for the steering shaft were it came out of the box by using an O ring and two rubberized cork seals that I made. The truck has no tendency to wander like it was. The hardest part was jacking up the front end and checking the front end joints to trouble shoot the wandering problem. Lots of good info on this web site.
