Fuel pump wiper vacuum ports.

I had my fuel pump rebuilt. The vacuum ports for the wipers had brass plugs in them. I removed the bottom cover and it was full of oil. The rebuild shop said Not to plug the ports. If they are plugged it will suck oil into the pump. Im not running wipers for a while and want to keep dirt out of the new pump. How do I handle the open ports if I cant plug them? Is there some kind of filters to temporarily install in them? Can a bypass of some sort be used? Any suggestions?

You could hook up the steel lines at the fuel pump, and then disconnect them further up. Then just tape or ziptie a piece of open cell foam around the open end. Presto, temporary filters!

and if you're going to run without vacuum wipers indefinately, you can use industrial air line filters. They're little brass plugs that are porous to let air in/out, very common, try McMaster.

What if you just ran a vacuum hose or pipe from the outlet to the inlet to make it a closed system?

Well.. When the windshield wipers are turned off, isn't that the same as just sealing them off?

I think GREENO has the solution. I got these muffler/filters from work Parker #EM12. I think they will work good.
