M37 Overdrive

I am looking at an M37 to buy. Can an overdrive be added to this unit? Without one I understand the top speed is 45 mph. What gains in speed could I get if one is available to purchase?

11.00-16's (if you can find them) or Tom at Sanke River 4x4's Gama goat conversion is the easiest start as tyres are an easy fix for the problem, alternately a couple of sets of 4.9 ring and pinions or indeed a gearbox adaption but as far as a "drop in overdrive Kit" goes I am not aware of anything like what was available for the early landcruisers and landrovers (Fairey overdrive I think it was), nice thought if there was one though

I installed a Dennan Overdrive on my Power Wagon. I dont see why it wouldnt work on the M37. It requires shortening the rear driveshaft, and it mounts directly behind the transfer case. It is only good in 2 wheel drive but you wouldnt need it in 4 wheel drive anyway. I have done plenty of offroading in the Power Wagon and it has been plenty durable. Go to www.dodgepowerwagon.com and search the archives for dennan overdrive and you will find tons of info on the units. They are made by Dennis Gronan using a Laycock overdrive unit.
It gives me aprox. the same boost in top speed as 4:89 gearing, but retains the lower gearing for offroad.

Hmmmmm, looks good for all but serious offroaders, a reverse/4wd lockout switch system would take the idiot factor out of the system and keep it intact for the forgetful owners such as myself, Begs another question though as to a reverse light switch on the gearbox, always wanted one, I am sure someone on here has done it??
I'll go for a search
