avalibility of motor mount

Post by RMS »

during exploratory surgery on my water distribution tube i found a problem. i couldn't pull the fan belt out. it was stuck between a rivet on the front cross member and the crank pulley. after i got the rad out of the way i found the problemImage

the mount was squished out and separating. i had a good looking spare and swapped it.

is there any new mounts being made or are we stuck with nos on this one?

if we're stuck with 60 year old nos front mounts...uh........... anyone have a better idea?

The standard answer (at least for me) is John at Midwest Military and Charles at M series rebuild. Those would be the two people I would start with.

After that, well, the adventure begins......... :D

Hi RMS,

I bought one of those mounts from a guy on Ebay a few weeks ago for $20. His Ebay username is "armytankguy". Here's a link to the auction....at the bottom there should be an "Ask a Question" link where you can contact him. He probably has more than the one he sold to me. I'm pretty sure John at www.midwestmil.com has them too. If you run into trouble with the Ebay guy let me know and I can email him for you.

regards,
bob

the tube looked good, no splits or cracks. the slot closest to the pump was a bit wide and there was gaps between the block and the tube at the water pump. a little work with a hammer and punch made it tight to the block. the inside of the distribution tube was shiny and clean but the outside attracted every bit of oil and silicone in the water jacket. mineral spirits cleaned it up.

I also figured out why dodge offset the motor. Image

so the distribution tub wont pull strait out

thanks bob
iv got a few goodies from armytankguy over the years. im just concerned about running a 60+ year old rubber mount. the one i put on the truck looked as though it had never been installed, but it is hard and checked. i imagine it would last for decades on most trucks but with how i use my m37 i need a different solution.
