Fuel tank question

Post by nortonscustoms »

The original fuel tank was missing from my truck but it came with some sort of after-market tank. The tank looks like it should fit without any problems however it does not have the top part where the fuel and vent lines connect. I believe it's called the Fuel Tank Cover. Was wondering if anyone had a photo of the part removed or a description. Mainly wondering what the pick-up tube looks like. Thanks.

I DO NOT HAVE ANY PICTURES. THERE IS A SENDER UNIT AND A PICK UP ON EBAY FROM SOME VENDORS. YET, IF YOUR TANK IS NOT ORIGINAL, THEN I DO NOT KNOW IF THEY WILL FIT. GOOD LUCK :)

The early trucks had a fuel filter near the firewall I beleive, and the fuel pickup I had on my parts truck was a piece of 5/16 steel line (I.E. Brake line/fuel line) Shaped like an upside down question mark. At some point they switched to an in tank fuel filter. I would not recomend trying to go that route.

Mine was rusted out and i just replaced it with a straight piece of flared stainless line about 6in long. Cost about 5 bucks and has been working great!
