Shortened clutch pedal

Has anyone managed to shorten their clutch pedal position?
Being 6' 2" I find it quite awkward to bend my leg to get to it.

I have tried adjusting the travel on the adjustment bolts underneath but it doesnt help much.
Any ideas welcome

I assume the seat is adjusted all the way back? I wouldn't have thought your height would cause that problem. With proper adjustment for the throwout bearing I wouldn't think you could shorten the pedal and have enough throw to fully release the clutch.

Well my legs are longer than the average 6 footer and I do have my seat as far back as it goes.
You are correct about not having enough throw to release the clutch if I try and shorten it.
I wonder if the pedal could be heated and bent or chopped and welded?

I Reread your comment on the adjusting bolts, doesn't your seat have the sliders?

Does your truck have the blocks of wood bolted to the underside of the floorboard. There seems to be a lot of US trucks with this mod. It limits the upward travel of the pedal. As many trucks as there are like that, I'm guessing it was done by the army for the very reason you speak of.

Thats a good idea, I will look into attaching something of that nature underneath the floorboard.

Yes, the seat is on the original tracks and is as far back as she goes. Like I say, the seating position is perfect for driving its just that I find it awkward to bend my left leg to reach the top of the pedal.
I think my legs are out of proportion to my body

Sorry, I should have made it a bit clearer, I meant I tried adjusting the bolts on the clutch pedal linkage beneath the floor board, not the bolts on the track below the seat.

At 6' 10", I have the same problem, Stu. It was the main reason I sold my truck.
I could not operate the clutch with the door closed. There just wasn't room enough to get my knee between the door and the steering wheel! I can't drive an M38, either. My shin bone hits the dash before my foot reaches the pedal. When I was a teenager, I sorely wanted an MG TC, but by the time I was old enough to get a driving license, I could no longer fit into one. My 4' 10" wife simply doesn't understand the problems we tall folks have any more than I undeerstand the disadvantages of being "vertically challenged."

Stu, you could also try "modifying" the back seat cushion. I've seen thinner cushions used which will allow you to sit further away from the steering wheel, and thus the pedals. It might help in the comfort department.

Lifer, I can relate to your issues of fitment, if only from a different perspective. I'd need your height to be proportional, as somewhere in my genetic family history there must've been an Ox that I got the shoulders from. I only made it to 5'9, but I'm just shy of 6' around at the shoulders! If I walk square though a door a doorway, I can rub my elbows on each side. Having enough shoulder and hip room in almost any vehicle prior to the most current production models can be a challenge. I can't fit in a Triumph car, can't get the door closed. I drove a volkswagen beetle for about a week, but couldn't operate it with the door window rolled up. I suspect my M37 will be very similar, the door window will spend most of its life rolled down so that I can be "somewhat" comfortable...

Not post related but Lifer your not the only tall guy with a short wife. I'm 6'4'' and wife is 5'. Good place to set my beer I guess. On the post side, maybe have 6" removed from our left leg ? Or maybe power steering and smaller wheel

You might get a "Powerwagon" clutch rod from VPW. It has one end adjustable w/ lock nut (like the more modern deuce and a halfs)-this solved all of the clutch drama I had and would provide additional adjusting options, as long as you didn't go too far adjusting it.
