Times are getting tough and ive got to get rid of the projects. Partially to make ends meet and partially to feed the OD addiction. Figured id throw this up here to get the word out, anyone into old Mopar Muscle? Its a 1974 Charger SE with a 1968 HP 440 under the hood. The engine has 120 miles on it and has sat for a while. Just lost interest in it really. Every single component in the engine was either machine shop refurbished or replaced with new. 11:1 compression, mopar purple cam, edlebrock intake. I even have a moroso oil pan that will fit the car in the trunk that i never got around to installing. The car also comes with $2000 dollars worth of fiberglass body panels, 2 fenders and a power bulge hood. Have any questions ask away, im asking $5500 for it and im getting bent over at that price Car is located in Colorado so the rust repair needed is NOTHING like a midwest or east coast car, theres no salt used on the roads here.
Keep in mind these pictures are around 5 years old when i was doing the work on the car, they are not current. My digital camera decided to die so i have no way of taking photos right now. It has been garage kept since the first day i owned it.
This looks like a decent deal. It reminds me of watching AMERICAN PICKERS, when they come up with a Ford Fairlane and gave the guy $7,000 and then a mechanic had the guts to warp them for another $4,000 for a tune-up ect.
They had $11,000 into the project and it still needed restored. Some appraiser told them it was worth $14,000 where it sat.
I think they got way in over their heads, or I just don't know my Ford Fairlanes ?

I think the owner of the Fairlane and the mechanic both "saw them coming." You don't reckon they knew each other do ya? A running, rust free original with faded paint and shot upholstery might be worth 7 grand, but not from me. A 4-grand "tuneup" is way over the top! Those engines were pretty basic and parts were readily available everywhere.
20 years ago, I could have done a complete rebuild on it for $300 in parts and machine work. For another $300, I coulda had a mechanic pull the engine and reinstall it while I watched. ($250 if I'd have left him alone and kept my mouth shut. )
I truly wish you luck in selling your Charger. It is a buyers market at present and it seems the buyers aren't shooting the lock off their wallet currently. I have been trying to sell the finished Ranchero below for about a year. Dropped the price down to $5800 and still no buyers? original paint, zero rust, converted to 5.0 HO EFI with an AOD and posi. As far as that "pick" of the Ford 390, it made good TV viewing but showed real bad business sense!
thanks for the wishes of luck guys! Ive been getting a bunch of looky loos but nothing more. Im even ready to wheel and deal at this point and still get nothing. I think its priced pretty fairly considering all the work that has gone into it mechanically as well as what it comes with new in the box. I guess ill just have to wait and see if someone decides to bite. There are examples in much sorrier shape online listed for much more money so it cant be to far from a reasonable price. I want it gone, want to get the M37 a friend! The plan is to get ahold of a MUTT when the charger is gone. easier to work on, cheaper, can go on a trailer behind the m37.....
