Forum upgrade
Hi everyone,
I apologize for all the problems this last week. The webhost changed it's SQL server without telling me and that broke everything. The registry, gallery and the forum all went down. Without the forum I couldn't sent out a mass email to let you all know what was going on.
After the server issue was fixed, I decided to do a long overdue upgrade to the forum. What should have been a simple 2 hour conversion took four days. Again due to limits imposed by the webhost. I actually set up a mock server on my home computer to try doing the conversion. But then I found a modified conversion script on phpbb.org that allowed me to complete the conversion right on the webhost.
This header with the registry link and rampant M37 should be back soon
This version has lots of new features that MM and I will be checking out soon. I hope you all enjoy this forum and please let me know what you think.
Thanks to Monkey Man and Phil Street for all their help during this last week.

I'll add my heartfelt thanks, too. Wish I could do more, but finances are too tight for me to offer any "overtime" even though you've surely earned it!

Re: Forum upgrade
I notice we have the ability to do attachments now.. That's cool...
or was I missing something before...

Re: Forum upgrade
I'm not sure what you mean by "doing attachments." Back in the old Big Electric days, we could post pictures directly from our own computers. When the Big E died, Robi resurrected it as "g741.org" using different software, but we were no longle able to post pics from our own computers. We had to use a web hosting service such as webshots, which I never learned how to do. Now that the Phoenix has again risen from its ashes, maybe we can post "Big E style" again? It would definately make things easier for dummies like me!

Yeah Lifer if you look below the Post A Reply box there's a tab with options and then another one with Upload Attachment you click that one and you can add an attachment from the desktop of your computer... Sure makes it handy to share PDF's and Pictures...Lifer wrote:I'm not sure what you mean by "doing attachments."
