Wiring harness question

Post by Av8r »

While looking around behind the instrument panel on my M-37 I noticed a couple wires that were not hooked up to anything. One was tagged as 8 and the other was tagged as either 6 or 9. (don't know if I was upside down or the wire was) Looking through the manual I cannot seem to find these wires on any of the diagrams but perhaps I am simply overlooking them. When I have a little more time I should be able to chase them down but thought someone here might be able to fill me in.

Thanks a lot,
John Davidson

# 8 & # 9 are for the amp meter and go to the shunt in the original mechanical Auto-Lite voltage regulator. If you are using a volt meter (AKA Generator condition gage red/yellow/green/) then you probably connected it to your #27 spider so it's only powered when the master switch is on.

Thanks Cuz. That explains it. So I'm not the only one that lurks here in the wee hours of the morning.

Hello John,
I had a long day with a long drive home. At least I was still working on OD!

About two more days and two more round trips to finish up the ski kit installation.

Wes, That is one cool looking plane. Have you been restoring that or just doing the ski mod to it?

I just fix-em! I have two customers in NW Wisconsin, one is this OD one and the other is Navy blue but soon to be OD. I won't mention names but the blue one is owned by one of the most respected MV collectors in the country.

I like that hoist fixture. I may need one like it as I have located a set of L-19 floats complete with rigging that I am seriously contemplating. However the front lifting eyes are not installed on mine and as best as I can tell when I install them I will most likely have to slightly pull the wings in order to get the required large washers on. Oh well. Whenever I get frustrated with something on my M-37 or GPW I just think about my airplanes. Compared to an airplane an M-37 fixes itself..........for free...............

Yet I can't get enough of them!

John,

I've added the lift eyes to the 170.180 series without pulling the wings.
