Charles!! Help on BASF paint codes!
I went to the local BASF dealer today to get some Strata Blue. I used the FS 25045 number and they could not cross reference it. The guy tried calling two different reps, one at BASF itself and they could not help.
He showed me some "single color" paint chips, two of which are very close to Strata.
Do you have the exact info for them to mix or somewhere I can find it?
I have a week of vacation next week and a friend with a paint booth is going to help me paint the bed and other parts.

I wanted a very durable paint which was fairly simple to apply. Charles suggested BASF single stage urethane since that is what he uses.
But the local bunch down here is having problems finding the formula.
We never got to the pricing yesterday since they couldn't figure out how to make it.

I checked and Charles hasn't posted in a month. I hope he's not sick or something.
If he's not available, I'll get the best match I can and dare anyone to tell me it's wrong. There's not many blue trucks at the meets I go to!

I would look at contacting Rapco and getting the Gillispie paint from him. It is the correct color, it is very durable and you only need xlyne or minerial spirits to thin it. No two parts epoxy to mess with etc. The only thing that is a PITA about it is paying to have it shipped from TX.
I think Charles hasn't been on since the last disagreement that some members had with him. You could try giving him a call if you still want the BASF paint number. You could check his website Mserries Rebuilds for a phone number.
Good luck with your paint.

Well, one gallon was $87, plus hardener, reducer and coloring. The price for one gallon of primer and two gallons of paint (and reducer and hardener) was $351.
I wasn't too surprised but it still left a mark.

That looks like a cool old 1/2 ton. His other one is more in my price range
It would be great to see you guys but as I said we are traveling w/ my parents. They like to pack an activity into every available moment
It is going to be a quick couple of days. I'll let you know if they left me a window of opportunity. Kurt
