I picked up a Jerry can this weekend. On the bottom, with the date of 51, was the word Russakov. Other than that, it is identical to every other can I have seen. Has the G at the top of the big stamped X and US at the bottom.
Anyone seen this before?
Thanks,
Tim

Russakov was just one of a number of companies who made Jerry cans for the armed forces. Other common manufacturers include:
Cavalier
CONCO
NESCO
Radio Steel Co.
Rheem
Scepter of Canada
US Metallic Can Co.
Wheeling
There may be others, too, as any company with the capability of pressing steel might have been "asked" to make them during WWII.
