With my engine issue solved I set the cab back on the frame this past Sunday. It is starting to look like an M37 again. I never thought I would get this far. It was really a milestone placing the cab back on and I thanked Dad for teaching me to be a gearhead. I still have the first ratchet he gave me about 35 years ago. So I think of him each time I wrench on the rig.
I also used the same timing light on my M37 that I used in high school on my 70 Charger. How fun was that?
One for the 'adequate ventilation" file, using a hole saw I made my own rubber cab pads out of a hunk of conveyor belt. As my drill press is in the basement, it stunk up the house like a rubber shop. Just like the old days here in the Akron area when the tire makers were still operating. Luckly it was warm out and I could open the windows. I posted some new pics of this weekends work in my album

That's great! I remember the anxiety I had over my rusted out cab (and everything else), and what it was going to take to replace it. Fortunately, Kurt Hirte rescued me by providing a serviceable cab (free of charge I might add-thanks again Kurt) and with an engine sling and a buddy was all it took to swap out the old and in with the new. The relief I felt at having a decent cab in place boosted my morale and kept the project moving along.
Congrats again,
Gary

Congrats David,
You'll make it, how/where is you smile album, is it connected to your school web page?
I chickened out and bought the rubber mounts from John @ Mid-West.
Cal_Gary,
You have stumbled upon a prince among men, Kurt has saved much bacon on both coasts!

Bruce,
My pictures are posted in the pics section of the forum. Look under "David Cial" album.
Home stretch indeed, David, your closing in on it fast!
Your friends floor panels look fantastic. I remember your bed on the garden tractor dump box, I borrowed your idea, I am just now starting to re-assemble & paint my bed.
Thanx,
Thanks. The whole floorplate project turned out better than expected. My bed will have to spend another winter outside as my engine fiasco took up the time I was going to use to disassemble the bed. I was hoping to have it apart, blasted and primed B4 winter.
