We've been having problems with some punks in our neighborhood recently. One of the local kids began hanging around with a real delinquent dirtbag kid and now it seems all we find is vandalisim. Last month the kid who lives near me (he was a good kid at one time) got busted for tagging road signs and shooting at cars with a paintgun. Word got out that I called the cops, which wasn't true. I found paint balls in my yard and told the kid I "would" call the cops if it didn't cease. Just so happened I confronted him with this a week before he got nailed. A neighbor woman down the road got her car damaged by them and she was the one who dialed the police.
Anyway, this past Sunday I was ironically out in the garage working on my M37 when a car came down our dead end street. Not paying it much attention I went about my business, that was until I heard the distinct sound of BBs being fired at my house, one of which either hit my truck or hit something else inside the garage and made the telltale metal "clink". I saw no damage to my truck although I am not concerned about damage to it from a bb gun. I found a bb on the floor and ran outside to see a white car speeding away. I immediatley called the cops and gave them the description but of course there isn't much that can be done. They weren't caught as far as I could tell. I was so taken back by this brazen act that now, every car that comes down our street gets my undivided scrutiny. This obviously was a message to me that they think I am the one who got their friend in trouble. However if they think I am afraid now they have another thing coming. The sad thing is I used to go out of my way to help these kids. I welded a go-kart frame for one of them, and also welded a muffler back onto another's motor bike. And this is the thanks I get. My next door neighbor got her porch light shot out twice by these same punks. I am concerned for my kid's safety as they play outside alot. So now, whenever I see the local punks on their motorcycles, they are going to get turned into the law instead of me going out and talking and trying to be friendly with them. I know its not all the kids doing this, but the one or two bad apples has just ruined it for all as far as I'm concerned. Drive-bys with BBguns is something that I will not tolerate, period....Thanks for letting me vent.
House vandalized over the weekend......

Gotta catch the ringleader and beat him half to death. Happened to someone I knew - they had a bad boy in the neighborhood so two of the grown men caught him out walking at night and had a little talk. After he got out of the hospital, he asked his delinquent mom if he could move away. Got rid of the problem in several ways as his toady buddies stopped also - the message was clear.

Punks
Well, I guess I could shoot back but here in Pa I'd more than likely risk jail if I did that so I don't think that's going to be an option. I had thought about getting hold of the ringleader and thumping his arse, but thats the problem, I'd have to catch him first. These punks are pretty sneaky. Its a shame because we never had any problems whatsover until this punk moved back into our neighborhood. Supposedly his family moved away some time ago, then came back. I'm thinking maybe junior was a big reason why they left.
Seeing these guys are kids, I doubt their identity will remain a secret for long. I'll definitely find out who did it, sooner or later. Once I do I was thinking a late night stroll to their house and a calling card of a note or other such notice that I now know where they live should be enough to stop the insanity. I can get sneaky as well without resorting to violence or destruction of property.

Society has certainly changed-too much shooting and killing going on with some of the youngsters today-unheard of when I was a kid 40 years ago. That's why I still smile when I re-read Carl Reineman's post about the refurb work his son did for the VFW or American Legion. I know Carl is proud, and rightfully so!

Those who strike back get the penalty box! Best is to install motion lights for night recon strikes, call the police and speak to the shift sarg and tell him what's going on in the 'hood - make sure the shift commanders know your name/house. Keep your garage door closed to avoid them seeing any tools/etc. Lock up. Keep the place wired tight. Honker down and wait them out. Local ordinances outlaw bb guns here in the "D". Good luck.

Oh yeah, I plan on making myself known to the local police until they ferret out the hoodlums and put a stop to it.knattrass wrote:Those who strike back get the penalty box! I plan to install one of those small wireless cameras that I can check while at work via a website, etc.
Motion lights won't do it because these clowns always hit during the day, and or from the street where a motion sensor will do no good. Good thing is I have good neighbors who will watch my house when I'm at work etc, and I do the recriprocal for them while they are away. The word is out now so it won't be long until they get caught.
