Correct Star size?

Guys;

Were there different star sizes on the doors of M37s? Was there a standard size to the stars? The star stencils I bought from Rick Larson are 16". I have seen M37's with this size star, yet the outline of the old star under the paint of my truck seems larger than this. I have not measured this old star but it is definitely larger than 16". Did some units use larger stars?

The "book" says 16", but, the stars were put on by GI Joe and he used what ever he had on hand.

we repainted the door stars on the truck and I know they were close but 2 different sizes from 1 side to the other

...and one more good reason for painting a truck Strata blue. No need to worry about the size and positioning of stars.
