Fender Mounted Heater Kit

I just got a fender mounted heater kit locally - quite a steal!

Does anyone have any ideas on what to use to replace the NOS flexible ducting?

You know - that's what I was thinking for inside - but wouldn't that make a great target on the outside? I'm not sure it would take too kindly to paint.

I'll have to get my calipers out & check the size.

Charles - in an older post (I can't find it) you mentioned the need for a motor cover to protect it from rain & water from truck washing. Am I remembering thais correctly?

I went through three motors before I figured this one out. I'd have you believe I figured this out on my own, but an old motor Sgt. told me about it. I cut an old Chev oil filter apart and used the shell. One kid asked if that was my oil cooler when he recognized the filter shell. Several years now on the same motor.

You are remembering correctly, we have installed a good many heater kits over time, not 1 that didn't have this problem of water finding its way into the blower motor. It's a good motor that does great if you keep water out. Most of you know I don't care for the fender mounted heater personally, is very much in the way of access to the left side of the engine. I guess my view is from a mechanics prospective, anything that makes maintenance access tougher is not on my + list if there is a way to avoid it. Many ways to install better than NOS heater systems out of the way & at lesser cost than these NOS units. My outlook is why make life tougher than it has to be?

Not for me, I like a heater mounted under the seat in the center of the cab, out of site & out of the way. The 151 heater is ok, but it takes a lot of leg room on the passenger side, not ideal.
