thankyou guys for all your help and advice, but I know when Ive been licked.
Ive reassembled the engine and restarted it and it still sounds like hell (as I expected, as I havent fixed anything).
Sat. evening I towed it to the mechanic along with all my manuals, gasket set, new exaust valve, and a blank check.... Ill let you know how things turn out.
my engine sounds like a sledge hammer convention

today the mechanic didnt have time to look at it but sent the "kid" out to move it to a diffrent spot in the lot. when he got it started all 3 mechanics came out to see what the racket was about, soon out came the stethacope. all 3 spent time kicking ideas back and forth.
They think something might be loose in the clutch or flywheel, thought the engine started and ran to well to be there!
Unfortinantly they have all my manuals so I cant research, but Ill let you know as soon as I know.

Well... I'm screwed!
TRACTORg25 you were right!
Lying on my back in a puddle of oil in the driveway I couldnt see it, but up on the lift the mechanic found the break in the crankshaft between the 5th and 6th cillinders.
thankyou to you all, without your support I would have felt verry much out in the wilderness.
Now I need to go back and read up about repair versus repower.

I have an engine with a cracked block, was a super good runner. I think all the internals should be in great shape. Send me a private message if you want more detail.
