master cylinder vent line problem

When removing my old MC, the vent line was rusted to the point that when I tried to remove the fitting, the line simply sheared off. I don't appear to have enough slack if I wanted to try re-using the old line. My question: is it worth attempting to repair the line/connection or should I simply replace it entirely?
Also, the fitting into the first T after the MC is totally rusted. If I can't salvage it, can someone recommend a source for a new one?

I don't know if anyone makes reproductions of the original, but if you don't mind bending tubing, it's easy enough to make your own. NAPA and all the other "usual suspects" carry brake-line tubing in a variety of diameters and lengths. It's possible that you may be able to repair your existing line by cutting it back beyond where the rust is and splicing a short piece of new tubing onto it. A compression fitting would probably be best for making the connection, since the vent is not a high-pressure line and the old metal may be too brittle to flare without cracking it.

I also think that Sid Beck has lengths of armored tubing that he sells. Also I saw a couple of brake and tubing places in Hot Rod magizine. Might check their web sites.

sounds like it shouldn't be too hard to figure something out. I was able to salvage the T fitting so things are looking up!

How about a source for the flex lines for the break MC and fuel vent lines at the frame on the lower left side of the engine. Mine have seen better days and one has an ancient epoxy repair.

NAPA has them and Charles provided the numbers. They were in stock here right over the counter. You could do a search and find them here.

Can anyone tell me if the MC vent line is critical for proper operation or is it just for fording? I'm wondering if I can just plug the vent line instead of repairing/replacing it.

M/C must be vented in order to keep the fluid flowing when you press the pedal, otherwise it will draw a vaccum and the fluid will never leave the reservoir. Most M/C's of this type have a tiny vent hole in the fill plug, not the case if your plug is an original. If you are using the original type M/C, the vent line can't be plugged off. If you are using a replacement type M/C, most likely it has a vent hole in the plug, check it out, if so, you can omit the line.
