Removing passenger side running board
On the 708. It was only 91° at lunch, so I crawled up under the sucker, blasted it with Kroil, and drug out the rachet and 9/16" socket. I lasted about ten minutes, gave up, and went home to soak up some air conditioning. By 5 o'clock it had cooled down to 89° so I tried again, this time sitting on a stool instead of lying in the gravel. Got 3 of the 4 bolts out. Gonna have to drill the head off the 4th tomorrow morning before it gets too hot.

Jim,
I would just snap off the old heads and use fresh fasteners-saves a lot of sweat.

Re: Removing passenger side running board
I'll be using fresh fasteners, but the old heads don't snap off.
Edit - I got it done today.

Re: Removing passenger side running board
Trial fitted replacement passenger side running board. My front support bracket is bent slightly aftward, so will need to straighten that before bolting in.
Where can I get large head carriage bolts in 5/16-18x1" ?

Since the correct bolts aren't readily available, I used elevator bolts. The head is the right diameter. But is flat. I get them at my local hardware store. (McFadden-Dale) McMaster also has them.

I found a source for large head carriage bolts this morning. Ordered 25.
