I have an opportunity pick up a complete engine and transmission. Anyone know the approximate weight?
It has everything attached: Starter, Gen, carb, etc.
I'm thinking 1000lbs?

Re: Weight of Engine & Transmission?
Doing a quick internet search seems to suggest opinions vary. The most common seem to be in the 450-500 lbs range for just the engine. I seem to recall a transfer case is in the 250-275 lb range so a trans shouldn't be much more than 300-325. That would put it in the 750-850 lb range. I think 1000lbs is conservative but not outside a possibility.
Re: Weight of Engine & Transmission?
Thank you. Just needed some idea if my truck can handle the weight to transport it.

Re: Weight of Engine & Transmission?
The seller is deciding upon my offer. It's a 5hr drive one way but will be worth it if accepted.

Re: Weight of Engine & Transmission?
Complete engine package, radiator to tailshaft isn't too bad. Engine is under 500. Transmission is under 175 w/o PTO. radiator is under 50. My 1000 lb lift doesn't go to bypass when lifting and moving them around here. I almost always move them as an assembly.
