Hello,
Is it possible to eliminate the governor on a ETW1 carburetor? My M37 runs very slow and it does not accelerate smoothly. It is hard to rev up and dies down when going up-hill.

Rafael,
Not without some pretty serious surgery and fabrication
!!
If adjusted properly it works really well. I'd suggest you try that first. It takes a little patience, but it is worth it.

Re: ETW1 carburetor
Thank you, Andy. Everything I read says it is adjusted at 3200 RPM's. Is it that it needs to be acelarated at that rate while adjusting? or that it should not be adjusted to acelerated more than that? I am not understanding the procedure on the TM well.
Have you done it?

Re: ETW1 carburetor
Rafael,
There’s a bunch of posts on adjusting the governor. Charles Talbert gave really great instructions and that’s how I learned to do it. My truck is governed to 3000, but you can set it where you like. You tune 2 variables, spring preload and spring constant with 2 concentric screws. One will set max RPM, one is the “aggressiveness” of engagement. There is a bit of trial & error involved to get it just right, but it’s not hard. If I have time I’ll search up my prior post.

The governor adjustment is also featured in the Dave Ahl M37 Resto guide.
