Good luck on that one Dave-hard to find, and highly priced, even used, or a repro.

If your on Instagram, a fellow enthusiast with the handle of Devilliers Garage @devillers_garage has really done a superb job of fabricating a brand new tailgate. I think he's in Louisiana? Not sure if he's a member of the forum?

M-37bruce,
Thanks for the comment on our tailgate. I’ve been a member for years here. I did have to fabricate a tailgate due to lack of availability. I think it came out great and was lots of work. Used, damaged ones are as well and are extremely hard to find in good condition.

Are you making them for sale, or was yours just a one-time thing?

I do wonder how many orders it would take to make it worth someone tooling up to make tailgates?

Re: wanted nos m37 tailgate
My tailgate was a one-time thing mainly due to the real cost in producing them. I designed it in SolidWorks based on measurements from factory units. That was fairly easy. I had to ask lots of favors to actually produce it and includes lots of what I consider standard sheet metal bends that any job shop could do, lots of tig welding, and significant machining. I cannot offer to build them through additional favors and manufacturing cost is beyond what I could reasonably charge. I am willing to post some info in a new thread if there is enough interest.

I don't see any M37 tailgates in their online catalog, though maybe I missed it.06boblee wrote:Vintage Power Wagons sells them.

Re: wanted nos m37 tailgate
I had an email exchange with Matt from VPW in August last year as my truck was lacking the gate. I wrote because the part was not in the catalog as you mention.
He replied that reproducing the M37's was in his head as a project and the tooling was about to be set up in "another fav shop" (don't know if it was a new location or something, I'm just quoting the guy).
Anyways, he finished his email asking me to write back by the end of the year to see the if they have something done. You might want to check with him.
For my case, after 20-something email exchanges with different places and many phone calls here in Europe, I got mine from Peter DeBella from Long Island. In very nice shape and very well preserved. Expensive in my opinion, but I had nowhere else to go.
Regards,
Sebastian
