I did a search and didn't find any talk about this. I have replaced the inner axle seal and the bronze bushing on my front. I am ready to install the splined front axle shafts into the diff.
But like normal there is a slight groove on the surface of the axle shaft where it rides on the oil seal. Has anyone put a sleeve on that area of the axle shaft? Anyone have a sleeve number?
I know it's far down the shaft to push a sleeve but I have done it on other axles before.

Re: Front Axle Sleeve
I think I answered my own question. I found another set of front axles that were not so bad where the seal rides.
So, I was thinking of how to get creative to push a sleeve down there. Then it dawned on me that the sleeve would have to pass through the bronze bushing before it got to the seal. Well that's not happening.
I will use these better axle shafts, and hopefully with the locking hubs I will use, the front axle will not be turning so much that the seal gets worn out. I might see what VPW has for axles.

Re: Front Axle Sleeve
I tried to drive the seals in to a slightly different depth when I did the front axle so they were clear of the worn area. It's worked OK for over 15k.
