NV4500 Size
I have been speaking to a local shop about doing an engine swap on my M37, specifically a Gen III Hemi 5.7 (I can't bring myself to put an LS in a Dodge). One part of the puzzle that I'm trying to figure out is transmission. I would like to use an NV4500, but I'm not sure if there would be room in front of the stock transfer case. I've been searching high and low on the internet, including this forum, but can't find information on the length of the transmission including the 2wd housing. I don't want to get into moving the transfer case and getting custom driveshafts. Does anyone here know what the dimensions are, or what it would take to get it to fit? It would be nice to have the overdrive, but if I have to I'll use an NP435 instead.
Re: NV4500 Size
I’m no authority on this but from what I can find..
The case is listed as being 12.375” long
The 2wd tailshaft is 6” on GM cases and 13” on Dodge cases.
I pulled the numbers from here:

You could look at the total length of the swap in question to the stock setup to see if you’re in the ballpark. Motor mounts and transmission mounts would be a custom setup so you could adjust the placement forward or back as necessary.

Re: NV4500 Size
RCrombie - thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for. Looks like the GM 2wd version is significantly shorter.
Re: NV4500 Size
Good man NCM-I'd never put an LS in a Dodge either

Re: NV4500 Size
Ha! I'm doing what I can to stay MOPAR. My current issue is figuring out how to use a mechanical clutch with a Dodge NV4500 bellhousing. Advance Adapters makes one for GM, but can't seem to find one for Chrysler engines.
Re: NV4500 Size
I wonder if an old Hollander Interchange manual might offer you a solution?
