M37 battery trays
Hi, for those of you needing battery trays, I will have a couple at the USS Alabama Show in Mobile. Come by and see what you think.
Re: M37 battery trays
Here's a photo of a tray Russell made for my AF truck.

Made by hand with a press and a bead roller. He's more patient than I am!

Re: M37 battery trays
What kind of bucks are we looking at?
Re: M37 battery trays
I'm starting out at $50. I've only made 5, and I'm already having to repair some of my equipment.
Thanks, Russell

Re: M37 battery trays
$50? Whats that work out to, about .75 cents an hour? It would for me, and they wouldnt look nearly that nice. Great work and a very reasonable price.

Yea, I don't expect to get rich on these things. But I'm helping a friend put a truck together, and he needed one but nobody has any NOS or repros on the market. I came across a piece of metal the right thickness and I had an old one as a pattern, so I made a few.

Re: M37 battery trays
I wonder if anyone would like them made in fiberglass? I ask 'cause, well, I have a fiberglass shop.

I have 4 left. 1 sand blasted, 2 in gray primer, and 1 in 24087 OD.

Jim,
What does battery acid do to fiberglass. I'm not trying to be a wise-ass....I just don't know much about fiberglass. Are the resins impervious to the acid?
thanks,
bob

Re: M37 battery trays
I think fiberglass kinda' ignores battery acid. I've never really tested it though. But then, I've never heard of battery acid eating through a fiberglass boat hull.

Re: M37 battery trays
I think Parkers trays are neat, besides, corrosion is less of an issue with modern batteries these days and the tray can be coated in synthetic rubber easily and cheaply. I run AGM batteries, compact, LOTS of cranking power and no leaking, venting or contaminant issues so unless you are being judged on every aspect of your truck a modern upgrade will make for a better battery system.
