Clutch return spring problem

Post by rixm37 »

OK another question. I am following Ray S. master cyl conversion and when I mounted the cyl it traps the return spring for the clutch pedal behind it. I think I can just raise the spring up about an inch. I was hoping some one has done this here on the forum and can give me a suggestion on how to do this. I can't find any info in the ugly truckling how to that deals with this.

trapped spring

Goes your spring look like a "regular" spring (//////////) , or does it have one long "leg" (------////////)? Mine has a "leg" on it - I just took some 1/8" (?) plastic tubing, cut about 2" length & split it down the side. Put the tube on the spring leg - acts like a sheath between the spring and the M/C.

shame on me for not looking closer but it is the brake return spring not the clutch pedal spring. It does have a leg that attaches to it and runs all the way to the pedal. putting a tube over it might work I will check it out. thanks
