starting a 1953 m37 that has sat for 11 years
i would like to know how to get a m37 that has sat for 11 years started up without doing damage to the motor. thanks

If the engine is free and you can turn it with a wrench I like to proceed using this process:

I did this with an old GMC engine letting the pistons soak in fluid for a few days with the spark plugs out. Then cranking the engine with the spark plugs out to blow all the oil out. Then replacing the spark plugs and trying to start the engine. I ended up replacing the points and condenser and the engine fired and ran okay.
