Electrical Question
Just purchased a 1952 M37. The previous owner had all of the 24 volt system restored but I don't think I'm getting any charge out of the generator. the Batt/Gen gauge is in the yellow when the truck is running and I have no way to test anything electrical because I don't have the test adapter kit that plug into the canon plugs. I've searched every discussion board and called just about every military surpluss store in the United States and nobody has one. Is there any other way to service or trouble shoot the 24 volt system without these adapters?
Re: Electrical Question
The adapter kit is the most convenient way to do it. They frequently appear for sale on ebay. You can make your own jumpers to use as test leads, but the adapters are easiest.
Try searching for Sun Electric WPW-10, or 17-A-3150, or 4910-348-7600, or 4910-00-348-7600. The instruction manual is TM 9-4910-607-14&P.

Re: Electrical Question
He has the adaptor set now. Haven't heard if he has had any success in figuring out the issue. It sounds like brush trouble, but also like incorrect troubleshooting may have taken out his regulator.

Re: Electrical Question
I disconnected the gen to reg cable before doing the test on the generator. I did remove the regulator to inspect it and it smelled burnt so I will be buying a new solid state regulator and the generator is currently at the electric shop.
