Picked up 4 M-332 ammo trailers !

Post by Tom @ Snake River »

There was a bunch of M-322 ammo trailers and about 10 M-101 3/4 ton trailers finalized at Hill AFB today in Utah.
I believe that the M-101's brought about $170.00 and myself and another collector bought the ammo trailers for $125.00 a piece.
Now I am not quite sure what to do with the darn thing, other than say I own one.
I would like to paint the older one WWII colors and tow it behind my CCKW and then hook up the 57mm anti-tank gun behind that for the local parade.
Can you believe that we have to file a EUC on the ammo trailers. :?:
Has anyone ever towed a M-322, even in tandem ?? Looks like I should be able to go down and tow them home behind my pickup.

Should be able to tow them no problem, they are HEAVY for as small as the are, they were designed to be towed by the 2 1/2 or 5 ton trucks and IIRC have air over hydraulic brakes.

I had a ww2 ammo trailer and sold it, heavy and bounced all over the road with no weight in it to keep it on the ground

According to "The Book" the M10 ammo trailer from WWII did not have any springs, just solid welded to the axle. The M332 do have spring suspenion.
Hopefully that is why it bounced all over the road.
