Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
I'm still around. Just took my 1954 for a joyride today.
I've been a bit busy with a new military history museum that my local club has opened up in Greenville, SC.

Here is a better pic.Elwood wrote:Thanks for the pic. I can't quite read the tag, but something about "National" and somewhere in Alabama? And maybe something about an MWO? Is there an MWO for the third member on these trucks?
Are you going to update your build thread on that interesting looking fuel tank? <Hint>
There is a thread about my tank here somewhere.

Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
Gary,
Still watching sight from time to time. Not enough time! it speeds up the older one gets!
Fell and broke wrist in three places. Everything comes to a halt until healed.
I will be at the Denton Rally 27-29 of April 2018! always good to see other M-37's.
my brother is going to take mine down there, even though I can't drive.

Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
Still around. After two years of work, and more money than I thought it would cost, I'm finally seeing the end of my M-43 project. Been a long haul. Body was in great shape, but everything else needed replacement. Engine overhaul, radiator rebuild, replace all the missing engine accessories, etc. But, it's now getting prepped for paint, and will soon be done and on the road. It's an Air Force ambulance, and through some research, I was able to find out it's history. Thanks to the original markings still being on it (albeit highly faded) as was able to determine that it was assigned to the Condon Oregon Air Force Station, part of the Air Defense Command, with the 636th radar unit. I will be remarking it exactly as it was originally. Only marking I have not figured out yet is on the lower right rear door is the letter/number "A2" and I have no idea what that is. It's across from the 636 CAFS markings. Interior was pristine, didn't have to do much, other than cleaning.
So, soon to be on the road and at events.

Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
Thanks All for weighing in!
Warmer weather here in the Mountain West so I've been running errands on weekends in the M37, now at 2200 on the odometer. Saturday we were on foot, heading to the truck from a restaurant when a young family of 3 with I'd guess a 4 year old girl in mom's arms were admiring the truck. Seeing them I said "you can go ahead and hop in" (since the kill switch had the batteries dormant). The smile was priceless as mom put the child in the driver's seat then pulled out her phone to snap a couple of pictures as the kid tested the err, call it free play in the steering-made their day as well as mine-I only wish I had some type of little trinket I could give the kids so they'd remember the experience.
That was a fun couple of minutes....

Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
I get the same response when I'm out with my M37. I actually get moms with young kids wanting to go for rides in it when they see me at the store parking lot. And its "sure hop in!" Off we go around the block. Its funny, they never seem to think, "Can I trust this guy?". They just hop in.
Now in my Carryall? Completely different response. In the Carryall, I'm a scary homeless guy, most likely strung out on hardcore drugs, stay well away from him! I just got back from a camping trip and it took most of the first day before anyone would talk to me. (Using the Carryall as a camper.) Talking to Julie just a few minutes ago, she thinks I should stencil some stars on it so people don't think its a homeless van. I might just do that.

Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
Great stories guys! I've never been asked for a ride-kids love the interior, dads love looking at the flathead, moms like taking the pictures of their kids in the cab.

Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
I love it when people refer to it as an "Army truck." I usually respond with "Where??"

I'm here. The last year has been pretty busy so I have been mostly jumping on to read a few things and then off again.

Re: ROLL CALL-WHERE IS EVERYONE?
So I put the stars on the WC53 and you know what? They work! Now, when I drive by, all sorts of people smile and wave.

I tried to make them look like they've been on the truck from the start.
